Overstepping Authority
Today in Washington, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and John Conyers (D-MI) are allowing a hearing by the House Judiciary Committee on the case for impeachment of the president and vice-president. The charge led by Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is that President Bush and Vice-President Cheney overstepped their authority on matters related to secret electronic surveillance in violation of the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Meanwhile, Senator Obama has acted in a manner that oversteps his authority regarding his discussions with the Iraqi government and policy statements made in Europe. What kind of arrogance is this?

I like how many media commentators have said that Obama "looked presidential" on this trip. Martin Sheen looked presidential on "The West Wing," as have Robert Redford and Warren Beatty in similar roles. Does that QUALIFY them to be president? America has been so brain-washed by corporate America to respond to packaging and advertising, many of us now no longer use our brains at all. Many Americans--and sadly many of them are young Americans--only know how to shop--even when it comes to picking our president. That is a sad commentary and, above all, as is explained by several authors in books like "Consumed" a threat to our democratic way of life.
I disagree with you anonymous when you said: "young American only know how to shop--even when it comes to picking our president". If they really knew how to shop, they would be researching the product and looking for the best quality at the best price (the best price being the Americans safety and welfare). Obviously they are failing in shopping as well as picking the next POTUS. I thought that school/college was educating our children to research facts and make informed decisions - - I guess I was wrong.
From all that my research has concluded, most colleges are very liberal and progressive and tend to educate our children accordingly. If the news media are supposed to report the news, not create the news for their own agenda, then the educational institutions should just be presenting all the data to students and not pursuing their own agenda and making clones of themselves - - when did we give that power to them?
The liberal judicial system took away our rights to raise our children as WE deemed necessary and appropriate only to put them under the jurisdiction of the liberal learning institution - - when did we give that power to them?
Being a liberal (Democrat) is not a bad thing as I’ve been a Democrat all my life, but at some point we have to stop kidding ourselves and wake up to the fact that the Democratic Party has their own agenda and it isn’t in sync with ours. When did we give them the right to make decisions contrary to our wants and needs - - when did we give that power to them?
Thanks, Eva for your remarks. Though I am not a Democrat, I watched and am still watching how your party was and still is being taken away from you. Stand your ground and our nation will be stronger because of your actions/attitude and others like you. As you have witnessed, the libs in the party that left you do not want any diverse opinions.. Hang in there....we are all for you.
Anybody can look " Presidential " if they are well-dressed and have good social graces, but that certainly doesn't qualify them to be president. My overall impression of Barack Obama's campaigning here in America and also in Europe was almost childlike, its as if he is constantly trying to win the approval of everybody, surrounding himself with elder statesmen, not really having a firm opinion on anything, and always giving speeches that are written by other people.-- He is ever so transparent in his hollow personhood, that he overcompansates with tiresome arrogance, which is totally annoying and unacceptable for anyone seeking the presidency. We must try to elect someone like Hillary Clinton, who has the gravitas to lead the nation.....
